LIFE SUCKS !
In the midst of our second cup of coffee this morning, my coffee colleague said “life sucks“. I gulped a mouthful. I was anxious to hear the reason her life sucks.
So I said, “Go with the flow and enjoy what life offers. (Don’t you just hate when folks tell you to, go with the flow?)
What if the flow is a choppy current, the result of a big wave; a steep hill; a lonely valley; a circumstance that will ruin your life if you continue to go with that flow?
I don’t like clichés. They ‘tick’ me off … especially the one that says: “Be yourself“.
Who else can I be? I’m one of a kind.
Back to my second cup of coffee with my coffee colleague … she believes her life sucks because book sales are stagnant.
I tell her … face it.
The fact is, she’s an author who is also handling marketing and sales for her self-publishing business. Being the ‘jack of all trades’ in your self-publishing business is a mammoth fete. I, too, manage my book business. I admit, I had to stop and learn some whys and wherefores before I could effectively proceed.
Know that you are your best promoter. No one talks about or even market your books the way you can. But first you have to love to be ‘out there’. And be yourself.
SIX WEEKS OF SUMMER IN SEATTLE.
As I do annually, I spend time during the summer with my grand-daughters … a get-away I truly look forward to. While I’m in Seattle, I will begin the sequel to CRY TOUGH and also ‘take in’ a couple of book events.
